Outdoor Education

Our Outdoor Education Teacher Sam offers unique experiences for all children that focuses on three key areas; Physical Development, Environmental Studies, and Connecting with Country experiences.
Sam's play based, hands on, age appropriate program is tailored to develop a wide range of learning and developmental goals and children have the opportunity to experience a variety of activities primarily outdoors.

Music and Movement

When children participate in the musical experiences, many areas of their development are enriched. As part of the program children practice crawling, jumping, dancing, yoga moves, balancing. The children learn musical concepts such as tempo, dynamics and pitch through participating in chants, songs and playing instruments.
They also learn about social skills such as sharing, taking turns, listening and following instructions. Children learn about many concepts such as counting, colours, emotional awareness, nature and animals and body parts.
Music is a very special way of learning- it engages all parts of our brains, and it is good for our body and soul!

Out and About Program

An important part of our program at Capel Sounds, is for all children to experience regular outings in the local community. These include the local foreshore, the Tootgarook wetlands and park, mobile library and the wider community. All of our team members work hard to implement safe practices and risk assessments are performed before these trips are taken. We ensure that a high level of safety measures are in place to support this program at all time.
Our younger friends at Capel Sounds enjoy the freedom of being out and about and have access to our 4 seat prams.

Health and Wellbeing

At Capel Sounds we have a dedicated Health and Wellbeing team led by Cassie our Health and Wellbeing Officer.
We are committed to supporting the children, young people, staff and families within our learning community achieve their best mental health. Through our focus on continuous improvement and our policies and practices, we work towards building and maintaining a positive, inclusive and resilient learning community for all.
We are committed to supporting children's social and emotional development by developing their first sense of self including feeling good about themselves and what they can do, social skills to get along in life with others and emotional skills such as recognising, expressing and managing a wide range of feelings.
These first skills are very important as they form the foundations for children's ongoing development and affect their mental health and wellbeing, now and into the future.
